Summer Company

The Small Business Centre and the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, have come together in an exciting new venture aimed at helping youth become entrepreneurs.

Summer Company is a grant program with two components consisting of up to $1,500 each for a total of up to $3,000 per successful candidate. It is a competitive program with a limited number of grants awarded each year.

Applicants Must Meet the Following Criteria
1) Be between the ages of 15-29 years, resident of Ontario and a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant.

2) Compose a business plan and submit it to the committee for evaluation. The applicant must include two references.

3) Must operate the newly proposed business over the summer and must be going to school immediately following the entrepreneurship experience. (Proof of enrollment will be required).

4) Must complete 12 hours of training.

5) Regularly meet with the assigned Community Mentoring Group.

6) Undergo a credit check (parent or guardian if under 18). Applicants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their application.

7) Be prepared to commit 8 weeks to the experience.

8) Agree to follow government rules and regulations for operating a business.
